JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two Daesh rebels were killed and an explosives-laden vehicle seized during a raid in Chapahar district of eastern Nangarhar province, the governor’s house said Thursday.
A statement from the governor’s house the slain Daesh rebels had been planning an attack in Jalalabad, the provincial capital, “on an important government organ.”
But their plan was frustrated after the bomb-rigged car was confiscated and the two Daesh men were killed, the statement said.
The security forces also another car, two RPGs and as many Kalashnikovs from the rebels.
Separately, a key Taliban member Shahidullah aka Amin has been arrested, the Nangarhar governor’s spokesman said.
Attaullah Khogyani said Shahidullah was a key member of the Taliban’s urban network and was involved in targeted attacks and other criminal activities.
He said the detainee had confessed to serving under Taliban commander Hamza’s leadership and committing terrorist activities in different areas.
Before his arrest, Shahidullah had been tasked with targeting government officials, said the gubernatorial spokesman.
