KABUL (Pajhwok): Second Vice President Sarwar Danish says the Indonesia government’s support for the Afghan peace process has led to cooperation from others Muslim countries.

A statement from his office said the Indonesia envoy and Sarwar Danish held a meeting in Kabul on Wednesday. Danish thanked the Indonesia government’s efforts to boost the Afghan peace process.

Encouraged by Jakarta’s cooperation, others Muslim countries had also stepped support for the Afghan reconciliation process, the VP said.

Lasting peace is a necessity for regional countries, according to Danish, who called for combating extremism in line with Islamic teachings.

Indonesia Ambassador Dr. Arif Rahamn stressed the need for enhanced economic cooperation between Afghanistan to achieve peace in the war-torn country.

Rahman said his country was ready to expand cooperative relations with Afghanistan in areas of trade and education. In October, he said, Indonesia would arrange exhibitions to strengthen cooperation between private sectors of the two countries.

Hundreds of Afghans were studying in different Indonesian institutes, he said, adding and efforts were underway to provide more scholarships for the Afghan students.

Issuance of more tourist visas was important for both nations to understand each other’s culture and promote people-to-people contact, the ambassador concluded.
