JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Different education related projects costing 40 million afghanis have been completed in Paroon, the capital of eastern Nuristan province, the governor’s house said Monday.
A statement from the Nuristan governor’s house to Pajhwok Afghan News said that Acting Education Minister Mohammad Mirwais Balkhi inaugurated the projects on Sunday.
During the inauguration ceremony, Balkhi assured that Nuristan province would be paid special attention for improving its education sector.
The statement read educational programs for Nuristan this year had been completed and the Education Ministry would allocate a special quota for improvement of the sector next year.
Nuristan governor, Hafiz Abdul Qayum, said the projects included construction of a building for the Nuristan Teacher Training Center and its hostel costing 34.5 million afghanis.
He said the hostel in five stories had the capacity to accommodate around 200 students and the Teachers Training Center building in two stories contained 16 rooms.
Another project, construction of a school building in Paroon city, was also launched, he said, adding the project would cost 3.9 million afghanis.
All these projects has been funded from the development budget of the Ministry of Education, Qayum concluded.
