GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Thursday visited southern Ghazni province and promised to build a hall and a hospital in the province.

President Ghani, accompanied by First Lady Rula Ghani and a number of senior government officials, on Thursday traveled to Ghazni City for assessing the province’s situation.

The president first met with provincial council members who demanded increased security forces, higher education facilities and promotion of Ghazni to grade A province and also offered some suggestions.

President Ghani said he had ordered the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) and ministries to arrange needed resources for promoting Ghazni to grade first province.

He said 100 million afghanis would be allocated for building a big hall in Ghazni city and the provincial civil hospital would be constructed and equipped soon.

Later, President Ghani met with security officials of the province. During his meeting with security officials, the president heard a report from the chief of army staff and commander of the 203rd Thunder Military Corps about security situation of the province and tightening measures at the city’s security belts and bases.

He asked security officials to develop a clear plan for operations, equipment of forces and resources distribution and stressed improved coordination among security organs.

It was the president’s second trip to Ghazni after Taliban’s massive attack on its capital.
