KABUL Breshna Shirkat (DABS) on Tuesday disconnected electricity to nine major defaulters including some high profile figures in Kabul.
Khalid Stanekzai, DABS head, identified the nine individuals as Almas Zahid, a former senior advisor to President Ghani, Haji Muqim, brother of Marshal Mohammad QasimFahim, Haji Karam Shah, a brother of former Jihadi commander, Anwar Khan Oryakhel, a lawmaker from Kabul, Gen. Lotfullah, former Nangarhar police chief, son of Gen. Pana, Abdul Wahid, and Noor Habib Gulbahari, a former jihadi commander.
Residential compounds of these individuals figures are situated in Kart-i-Par in 4th police district of Kabul city.
DABS officials cut off electricity of these individuals while accompanied by quick reaction forces.
Stanekzai added, “We had already informed these defaulters through media and letters but they did not pay attention thus their electricity lines were cut off today.”
According to a list received by media, Almas Zahid has to pay 5.8 million afghanis, Karam Shah more than two million afs, Haji Muqim nearly one million afs, Noor Habib Gulbahari above one million afs, son of Gen. Pana more than 819,000 afs and Abdul Wahid more than 5.7 million afs to the Breshan Shirkat.
Eng. Abdul Wahid, chief of Kabul power, accused the mentioned men of not paying electricity bills for years as they had noticed them regularly.
He said liability in Kabul has reached over two billion afghanis.
