KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Shopkeepers in southeastern Khost province on Wednesday said the Governor’s House has prepared a list of prices without their consent.
Addressing reporters here, members of the Social Council of Khost City Shopkeepers warned people would again start buying and selling in Pakistani currency if the price list was not reviewed.
Jamal Tani, head of the Shopkeepers Council, said shopkeeper unions cooperated with the local government in preventing transactions in Pakistani currency but the authorities failed to decide a price list.
No consultation was made with shopkeepers in finalizing the price list, he said, asking for change in the list.
Another member of the council, Badsha Sardar, said the price list shared with shopkeepers was high.
He said doctors who previously charged 200 Pakistani rupees fee now charged 200 afghanis fee. “We are against it and this will not benefit anyone,” he said.
It is worth mentioning that 1000 Pakistani rupees equal 470 afghanis and based on this, the prices of commodities should be lower in afghanis.
Khost City Mayor Dilawar Noori said the price list shared with them by the Governor House had no problem and had been approved by different city unions and their heads.
“You can see signatures and stumps of unions heads the price list, but now they reject it,” he said.
