Wahid Malyar, spokesman for the ministry, told Pajhwok Afghan News the new case surfaced in western Herat province.
He said the number of such cases had reached 22 in Afghanistan -- 13 in Herat, three in Samangan, two in Logar and one each in Kapisa, Daikundi, Balkh and Badghis.
Of the 269 suspects, 22 individuals have tested positive for the virus. Some suspects from Parwan, Daikundi and Paktia have tested negative.
