Hospital to fight coronavirus opens in Samangan

AIBAK (Pajhwok): A 50-bed hospital for coronavirus patients was inaugurated in Aibak, the capital of northern Samangan province, on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Fida Mohammad Paikan said the hospital would be upgraded to 100-bed in future.

He said the hospital was equipped with needed tools and a number of doctors from the provincial civil hospital were appointed there and some professionals of infectious diseases would be also employed at the hospital.

A total of 41 positive cases of coronavirus have been detected in the country — 21 cases in Herat, three in Samangan, two each in Kabul, Balkh, Logar and Zabul, one each in Kandahar, Daikundi, Ghazni and Badghis provinces.

The 50-bed hospital to fight coronavirus was opened at the Teacher Training Institute in Aibak city.

Samangan governor Abdul Latif Ibrahimi at the inauguration said the building was turned into the hospital for a temporary purpose and a land had been specified for a 50-bed hospital in the city which would be built in future.

Hospitals for coronavirus patients have also been opene in Kabul and a number of provinces.
