KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): A doctor, who became the first person known to have contracted coronavirus in southern Kandahar province, has recovered and returned home, an official said on Tuesday.
Dauat Darman, a doctor, infected with COVID-19 almost two weeks back in Kandahar and later isolated himself in a hospital.
He told Pajhwok Afghan News his blood samples were twice dispatched to Kabul for test within the past week and fortunately the tests were negative. He said his results were negative and he returned home normal.
He said isolation days were hard and he promised with himself to serve victims of the virus after his own recovery.
The doctor said he went to Quetta city of Pakistan almost two weeks back and he might contracted the virus there.
He asked people to visit doctors upon seeing signs of corona virus and take the COVID-19 seriously and practice all guidelines if the Ministry of Public Health.
Kandahar Public Health Director Dr. Mohammad Taos Ashraf Nadari said they had sent 140 suspected cases for test to Kabul and 106 had been tested so far, in which three cases were positive and one recovered today.
He said some steps had been taken regarding prevention of coronavirus spread and lockdown imposed in some parts of the provinces.
