300,000 individuals die from Covid-19 globally

KABUL (Pajhwok): The number of coronavirus-related deaths around the world has reached 300,000 while 1600,000 people have recovered from the pandemic, news reports say.

After emerging in the Wuhan city of China last December, the COVID-19 pandemic has spread to at least 200 countries and regions, affecting millions of individuals.

In the initial weeks, mostly Chinese people were infected and killed by the virus, which has now been controlled by Beijing. But the disease is currently spreading rapidly in Europe and America.

Statistics showed on Thursday around 4.million and 430,000 people had been infected with the virus worldwide and 300,000 had died from the disease -- most of them in Europe and the US.

Data from the Johns Hopkins University in the United States indicate more than 1.6 million people have recovered from the coronavirus and returned to normal life.

Media reports say around one million and 430,000 individuals have contracted the virus in the US, where over 85,000 have been killed as of Thursday morning.

Also on Thursday, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) in Kabul said 413 new COVID-19 cases had been registered in Afghanistan, taking the nation’s tally to 5,639.

It said 135 Afghans had so far lost their lives to Covid-19 while 630 others had recovered from the pandemic across the country.
