KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MoRRD) on Wednesday announced launching construction work on 259 projects worth more than 723 million afghanis in 29 provinces.
In a statement, the MoRRD said contracts of the projects have been signed between Rural Rehabilitation and Development Minister Mujib Rahman Karimi with relevant development councils today (Wednesday).
According to the statement, the projects would be implemented in Uruzgan, Badakhshan, Bamyan, Baghlan, Balk, Parwan, Paktia, Paktika, Takhar, Jawzjan, Khost, Daikundi, Zabul, Samangan, Sar-i-Pul, Ghazni, Ghor, Faryab, Kabul, Kapisa, Kunar, Kandahar, Logar, Maidan Wardak, Nangarhar, Nuristan, Herat and Helmand provinces.
According to Karimi, the projects included 148 water supply schemes, 127 wells, nearly 100 water dam, seven healthcare facilities and 4.250 meters canal.
He added the projects would benefit 374,000 individuals. The minister said some projects were being implemented from the national budget and some with the aid of the United Nations International Children Fund (UNECEF).
