Gold, petrol prices up in Kabul markets

KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of petroleum products and gold surged, while the rates of other essential products remained steady this week, compared to the previous week.

According to an Online Food Company, the wholesale price of a 50-kilogram bag of Pakistani sugar was 2,300afs, 24-kilogram of Pakistani rice 2,300afs and 16-litres Sedique Cooking Oil 1,750afs, 49-kilogram of Kazakh flour 1,700 afs, one kilogram of green Indonesian tea 320 afs and one kilogram of black tea 350 afs.

Mohammad Tawab Ghaznavi, an employee of a general store in Mandavi Bazaar, said the price of 16-litre Sediq cooking oil was 1,700 afs, 50-kiogram Pakistani sugar 2,300 afs, 24-kilogram of Pakistani rice 2,300 af, 49-kilogram of Kazakh flour 1,700 afs, one kilogram of green team 320 afs and one kilogram black team 350 afs.

There was no change in the price of essential items compared to the last week price.

 Mohammad Zaki, owner of a general store in Macro Ryan area, said the price of a 49 kilograms bag of Kazakh flour was 1,800afs and a 49-kg sack of Pakistani sugar 2,500afs. Similarly, a 24-kg bag of Pakistan rice sold for 2,500afs, a 16-litre ghee bottle for 1,850afs, one kilogram of Indonesian green tea for 340afs and the same amount of African black tea for 360afs.

Gold price jumps

The price of one gram of Arabian gold surged from 3,400 afs to 3,450 afs this week while one gram of Russian gold jumped from 3,000 to 3050 afs.

The surge in gold price was also linked with increase its price in global markets.

Fuel price declines

According to Ahmadyar Group, the price of one litre petrol increased from 34 afs to 35 afs while the price of one litre desial remained steady as 37afs.

Mohammad Zarif, a liquefied gas seller in Pul-i-Pach area, said the price of one kilogram of the commodity was 45afs — same as last week’s rate.

US depreciates against Afghani

According to the Money Exchangers Union in Sara-i-Shahzada market, one US dollar accounted for 77.15afs while 1,000 Pakistani rupees sold for 463afs.

Last week, one US dollar was equal to 77.23 afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees to 464afs.
