KABUL contact groups will discuss disputed points to let peace negotiations in Doha move forward, both sides say.
Afghan government and Taliban negotiators met in the Qatar capital on Wednesday evening, a Kabul delegation member said.
Nader Naderi said the participants decided contact groups from both sides would sort out irritants as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Taliban’s political spokesman Dr. Mohammad Naeem confirmed the general meeting asked the contact groups to resolve the dispute. In the next session, agenda items will be discussed.
A source in the Kabul team, meanwhile, revealed the government delegation had floated fresh proposals to break the current stalemate.
Delaying discussions on rules and regulations to the next phase of talks and including the US-Taliban deal in the framework for the negotiations are among the suggestions.
The overnight meeting was aimed at finding alternative solutions to the disputed points around the framework for the peace negotiations.
