MoPH records 228 new Covid-19 cases, 15 deaths

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health on Monday announced detecting 228 new Covid-19 cases during the last 24 hours, pushing active total to 43,468.

In a statement, the ministry said 1,251 people underwent tests during the period, with 228 people testing positive for the infection.

Of the fresh cases, 94 were recorded in Kabul, 51 in Herat, 26 in Balkh, 20 in Takhar, nine in Kandahar, nine in Kunduz, four in Parwan, three each in Baghlan, Logar, Wardak, two in Farah and one in Zabul.

The ministry said 44 people recovered from the disease during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 35,136.

At least 15 people died from the virus and thus the deaths reached 1,632 during the period.

MoPH officials also noted surge in positive Covid-19 cases this week compared to the previous weeks.
