MoPH registers 243 new Covid-19 cases, 7 deaths

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health on Wednesday announced detecting 243 new Covid-19 cases during the last 24 hours, pushing active total to 43,924.

In a statement, the ministry said 1,201 people underwent tests during the period, with 243 people testing positive for the infection.

Of the fresh cases, 115 were recorded in Kabul, 64 in Balkh, 25 in Parwan, 14 in Nangarhar, eight in Kunduz, seven in Baghlan, five in Logar, two each in Helmand and Jawzjan and one in Nimroz.

The ministry said 135 people recovered from the disease during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 35,295.

At least seven people died from the virus and thus the deaths reached 1,638 during the period.

MoPH officials also noted surge in positive Covid-19 cases this week compared to the previous weeks.
