MoPH registers 290 new Covid-19 cases, 17 deaths

 

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Tuesday said 290 new positive Covid-19 cases were detected during the last 24 hours that saw 17 people dying from the infection.

The ministry said 1,428 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 290 people, pushing up the total number of cases in the country to 45,278.

Of the fresh cases, 70 were detected in Kabul, 47 in Herat, 44 in Nangarhar, 34 in Kandahar, 30 in Parwan, 15 in Ghazni, 12 in Takhar, 12 in Kunduz, 10 in Nimroz, eight in Baghlan, five in Logar, and three in Maidan Wardak.

At least 146 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, pushing up the number of recoveries to 36,122.

Seventeen people lost their lives to the virus during the period and the total tally of deaths reached 1,712.

The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow its guidelines.
