MoPH reports 263 new Covid-19 cases, 22 fatalities

KABUL Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Wednesday said 263 new positive Covid-19 cases were detected during the last 24 hours that saw 22 people dying from the infection.

The ministry said 1,358 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 263 people, pushing up the total number of cases in the country to 46,980.

Of the fresh cases, 75 were recorded in Kabul, 34 in Kapisa, 28 in Herat, 25 in Nangarhar, 24 in Balkh, 21 in Kandahar, 14 in Parwan, seven in Baghlan, seven in Nimroz, six in Zabul, five in Daikundi, five in Ghazni, three in Logar, two in Nuristan and one in Panjsher.

At least 119 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, pushing up the number of recoveries to 38,026.

The ministry said that 22 people lost their lives to the virus during the period and the total tally of deaths reached 1,822.

The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow the virus preventive guidelines.
