KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Sunday announced registering 203 new positive Covid-19 cases across the country in the last 24 hours.
The ministry in a statement said 1,502 people underwent tests since Saturday and the virus was detected in 203 people, pushing the overall tally to 52,909.
It said 72 cases were detected in Herat, 27 in Badghis, 25 in Takhar, 19 in Kabul, 16 in Nangarhar, 16 in Ghor, six in Paktia, five each in Paktika, Khost, four in Kundiz, two each in Badakhshan , Helmand, one each in Bamyan, Maidan Wardak, Laghman and Kunar provinces.
At least 114 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 42,405 and eight people lost their lives to the virus, with the total death toll reaching 2,230.
Some countries have started rollout of vaccine to prevent coronavirus infection.
