3 SMPA officials referred to AGO after Pajhwok report

KABUL (Pajhwok): Three officials of the State Ministry for Peace Affairs (SMPA) have been referred to the Attorney General Office and another three warned following a Pajhwok Afghan News report about exaggerated prices of food served to guests.

Pajhwok in a report on July 29 found that the ministry officials had purchased food for a single guest against 2,500 afghanis while the same package at the same restaurant was served for 1,473afs.

After the report published, SMPA in a letter said that the Presidential Palace has tasked a team of the Supreme Audit Office (SAO) to investigate the costs of meals served to guests of the ministry based on rules and laws.

The source said the SAO checked meal prices at several restaurants but no extra money was spent from the budget of the ministry to cause loss to the national treasure.

The letter, however, there were some forgeries in the prices and administrative workers did not carefully review them, therefore three people who charged the prices should be referred to judicial organs and three others who reviewed them should be warned as per Presidential Palace directives.

The letter said three people who forged the prices were referred to judicial organs and three others who reviewed the price without accuracy were warned.
