HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): At least 14 Taliban insurgents have been killed and another 13 wounded in a clash with security forces in western of Herat province, the Afghan military said on Monday.
In a statement issued by the 207th Zafar Corps said security forces and Taliban gunmen clashed in Obe, Pashtun Zarghun and Kashk-e-Kohna districts late on Sunday night.
The rebels attacked security check-posts in Kashk-e-Kohna district, sparking a gun-battle that left six Taliban dead and two others wounded. The security forces had air support, the statement said.
Separately, five Taliban militants were killed and six others injured after they attacked security check-posts in Obe district, the statement added.
The statement did not mention if security forces suffered any casualties.
Javed Niazi, a spokesman for Public Order Police, said four insurgents were killed and as many wounded during a joint operation by security forces in the Pashtun Zarghun district.
The Taliban have said nothing in this regard.
