PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): At least 11 security personnel have been killed and four others wounded in a Taliban attack in northern Baghlan province.

A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants stormed a security check-post in the Safdar Khan area of Pul-i-Khumri on Monday evening.

He said six Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel were killed while four others went missing in the wake of the insurgent attack.

The source added that a tank was also hit by a rocket in the area and four security officials inside the military vehicle were killed.

A source in Baghlan Civil Hospital said five injured people had been brought to the facility. A policeman named Ghaffar succumbed to his wounds.

Police spokesman Ahmad Javed Basharat declined to comment on the security forces’ casualties but said four people were injured as a result of a blast in Pul-i-Khumri.
