AIBAK (Pajhwok): The International Organization of Migration (IOM) on Saturday started distributing over 15,000 afghanis each and winter clothing among 602 internally displaced families in northern Samangan province.
Syed Kamal Husseini, Refugee Director of Samangan province, at the inauguration of the aid distribution ceremony, said the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) had provided the cash aid amounting to 9.241 million afghanis and winter clothing for the displaced families. The International Organization of Migration (IOM) would implement the distribution process.
He added each family would receive 15,350 afs in cash, three quilts, two male and female sweaters, five children sweaters, four pairs of gloves, four hats, two each male and female wearing blankets.
“The aid will be distributed among families who have taken refuge in Aibak, the provincial capital, after being uprooted by natural disasters and those who have returned from neighboring countries,” Husseini said.
Toorsan, a 65 years old resident of Daikundi village of lower Dar-i-Sauf district received the aid package. He said they fled their village because of war and were currently living in RustamAbad village of Aibak.
“Now I can buy flour, cooking oil, rice, heater and wood for my family of 11 members with the aid money,” Toorsan said.
