MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Former police chief of northwestern Faryab province, Nizamuddin Qaisari, has recently said he supports the current democratic system and claims the authorities of northern Balkh province are conspiring against him.

The Balkh governor on the other hand warned of serious action in case Qaisari committed any illegal activity.

Qaisari posted a video on his Facebook page, claiming that Balkh authorities are conspiring against him.

Farhad Azimi, governor of Balkh province, said that Qaisari had submitted a written commitment promising not to indulge in illegal actions.

“If Qaisari continues with his illegal activities then he would face strict legal action,” Azimi said.

Nizamuddin Qaisari in his video statement reacted to the Balkh governor’s statement.

Qaisari promised to not commit any illegal act and that he supported the current democratic system of Afghanistan. He added that Balkh authorities could not take any action against him.

“You invaded my residence with tanks and heavy weapons but you were not able to do anything to me,” Qaisari said.

Qaisari accused Atta Mohammad Noor, former Balkh governor, of monopolizing Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital, and grabbing lands for two decades. Qaisari claimed that he had documents to prove his accusation.

Farhad Azimi told Pajhwok Afghan News that the government would not allow powerful individuals to commit illegal activities.

He added that according to the Citizen Security Charter, all Balkh residents who were formerly engaged in criminal activities had to provide written commitment of not indulging in illegal activities.

Azimi in response to a question said: I heard Qaisari’s statement and we would show him our legal power in case he commits illegal activities”.

Mohammad Afzal Hadid, chief of Balkh provincial council, said that law should be implemented equally on all citizens.

He said the Citizen Security Charter must be implemented in Balkh province and nobody should create hurdles in its way.

Hadid further added that Balkh residents and authorities would not allow insecurity in the province.

Last year, government forces raided Nizamuddin Qaisari’s residence but he managed to escape and moved to Jawzjan province.
