MoPH reports 104 new Covid-19 cases, no death

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Tuesday announced recording 104 new positive Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours in the country.

The ministry in a statement said 1, 928 people underwent tests since Saturday and the virus was detected in 104 people, pushing the overall tally to 54,854.

It said 26 cases were detected in Herat, 21 in Farah, 16 in Laghman, seven each in Nangarhar, Kunar, five each in Kandahar, Ghor, three each in Balkh, Miadan Wardak, Helmand, two each in Kabul, Badghis, Paktia and one each in Niromz and Khost provinces.

At least 94 people recovered from the infection during the period, taking the recoveries to 47,549.

The ministry said no one died from Covid-19 during the past 24 hours, with the total death toll remaining at 2,390.

The coronavirus was first detected in China more than a year ago and then it spread to at least all countries around the world, including Afghanistan.
