KABUL (Pajhwok): More than a dozen individuals were tested positive for Covid-19 infection in 14 provinces in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Public Health said on Saturday.

The ministry said 840 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 13 people, pushing the overall tally to 55,021.

At least three individuals recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 47,609.

The ministry said no one died from the virus during the period and the total death toll remaining at 2,400.

The virus was initially identified in Wuhan province of China and then spread throughout the countries. The US and Britain have been reporting a large number of infections on a daily basis.

Many countries across the world have produced vaccines for the virus. Lately many countries have closed their borders and delayed all types of travel in order to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 variant.

MoPH has urged people to reduce travelling abroad and also requested people to quarantine themselves at home in case of any visible symptoms.
