Afghans mark 32nd anniversary of Soviet forces withdrawal from Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan marks today (Sunday) the 32nd anniversary of Soviet Union Forces withdrawal after 10 years of military occupation.

In December 1979 Soviet Union forces invaded Afghanistan to ensure the protection of their puppet regime and its long-term strategic interest in the region.

The people of Afghanistan strongly defended their land in the aftermath of Soviet Union invasion and fought bravely until the red army is forced to leave Afghanistan 41 years back.

Soviet Union forces inflicted heavy material and human losses on Afghans during their 10-year of military occupation.

Millions of Afghans were forces to migrate to other nations, millions others martyred and disabled.

Since the Soviet Union occupation of Afghanistan, the country had been engulfed in war and conflict. The people of Afghanistan had been struggling to come out with a peaceful solution to the 40 years of war.
