KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Sunday said 7 new positive Covid-19 cases were registered in the last 24 hours in the country.
The ministry in a statement said 1,591 people underwent tests since Saturday and the virus was detected in 7 people, pushing the overall tally to 55,854.
It said 3 cases were detected in Nangarhar, two in Kabul, one each in Herat and Laghman provinces.
Nine individuals recovered, taking the recoveries to 49,378 and two people lost their lives to the virus during the period, with the total death toll reaching 2,451.
The coronavirus first emerged in China more than a year ago and then spread to at least all countries around the world, including Afghanistan, but a new form of the virus has recently appeared in the United States and Britain.
