KABUL (Pajhwok): Mesharano Jirga or Upper House of the parliament has appointed Mohammad Alam Azydyar as a first deputy chairman, Mohammad Akbar Stanikzai as second deputy chairman, Rahela Dostam as secretary and Faisal Sami as deputy secretary.

The third legislative session of the parliament on Saturday kicked off by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.

Article 87 of the constitution says: “Each of the two houses of the National Assembly, at the commencement of their work period, shall elect one member as president for the term of the legislature, and two members as first and second deputies and two members as secretary and assistant secretary for a period of one year. These individuals shall form the administrative teams of the House of People as well as House of Elders. Duties of the administrative teams shall be determined by the Regulations on Internal Duties of each house.

Azidyar was elected to the deputy chairman post and Faisal Sami to the deputy secretary position unopposed, while election was held for the position of second deputy chairman post between Mohammad Asif Sediqi and Mohammad Akbar Stanikzai which Stanikza won.

For the secretary post Saleh Mohammad Lala Gul and Nabia Mustafa were candidates but none secured the required votes.

Votes for the secretary position held again in which Rahela Dostum security the majority votes. It worth mentioning that Tayyib Agha competed Rahela Dostum for the secretary position but he could not won.
