Ghor protestors want killers of 4 civilians arrested

FIROZKOH (Pajwhok): A number of residents of Lal wa Sarjangal district of western Ghor province on Thursday staged a protest demonstration on the Ghor-Kabul highway and asked the government to identify and arrest the murderers of four local people.

A day earlier, four passengers who were residents of LalwaSarjangal district of Ghor were killed by unidentified armed men in Kutal Shinia area on the Ghor-Kabul highway.

The protestors warned to shut the highway if their demands were ignored.

Raouf Arian, one of the protestors, said, “Our people in LalwaSarjangaldistrict are killed often but unfortunately the government has failed to ensure our security, we seriously ask the central and local administrations to put this situation to an end and bring perpetrators of such incidents to justice.”

The protestors in a resolution letter said that all criminals in the area should be arrested, and asked the government to launch an operation to ensure security on the highway and prevent extortions of passengers. They warned to close Ghor-Kabul highway if their requests were ignored.

Pajhwok Afghan News tried to contact Ghor governor and police chief for their comments about the protest, but no one responded.

The Taliban also have not yet said anything in this regard r.

However, Ghor governor’s house in a statement said that the provincial governor, Abdul ZahirFaizada, had visited the incident area and met with families of the victims on Wednesday.

The source said that the governor assured local people that the killers would be identified and arrested.

Also a week earlier, the governor during a visit to the district had assured of improving security of the area and implementing reconstruction projects.
