KABUL (Pajhwok): Doha is set to host a four-way meeting on advancing intra-Afghan peace negotiations, says a Russian diplomat.
Extended Troika members — Russia, the United States, China and Pakistan — would meet on Friday, April 30, said President Vladimir Putin’s Russian special representative for Afghanistan.
TASS quoted Zamir Kabulov as saying the meeting would hammer out a unified position on promoting the Afghan peace talks.
The meeting would be attended by Kabulov, his US counterpart Zalmay Khalilzad and representatives of Pakistan and China.
Kabulov added: “We will discuss solutions to the current situation in the intra-Afghan negotiations. We will try to work out a common position to give an impetus to the talks …”
A regular round of the Extended ‘Troika’ talks took place in Moscow on March 18. Russia, China, the US, Pakistan and representatives of the Afghan government and the Taliban, Qatar and Turkey were in attendance.
