PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Thousands of Afghans have crossed into their homeland after the reopening of the Durand Line at Chaman by Pakistan.

The Afghan citizens had been stuck in the town due to the closure of the Durand Line after the Taliban seized Spin Boldak and Wesh last week.

The crossing was opened for the second time in the last four days by Pakistan to let Afghan nationals, including women, children and patients, return to their country.

Pakistani citizens, who had been stranded in Wesh, were also allowed by the Taliban to return home, one senior administration official told Dawn.

Assistant Commissioner Arif Kakar confirmed the crossing had been reopened on humanitarian grounds to allow Afghan families to return home.
