Muttaqi meets envoys from 16 countries in Doha

KABUL (Pajhwok): The acting minister of foreign affairs has held meetings with ambassadors and envoys to Afghanistan from 16 countries in Doha.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman said Muttaqi held meetings with ambassadors and representatives of Germany, Canada, Finland, New Zealand, Italy, South Korea, EU Commissioner, Spain, US, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Australia, the UK and Japan.

In a statement, Abdul Qahar Balkhi said a delegation of the Afghan government, led by Muttaqi, met ambassadors-designate and envoys from 16 countries in Doha on Wednesday.

Security, humanitarian, economic, political and health issues were discussed during the meetings, the ministry spokesman added.

All sides praised the progress made in the security and political situation, saying humanitarian and health assistance should be provided to Afghanistan.

The Afghan delegation assured them of security, cooperation in the delivery of aid and demanded all countries open their embassies in Kabul to get a closer look at the facts and establish positive relations.
