Over 1,200 tonnes of expired, substandard medicines, food destroyed

<p class="p1"><span class="s2">KABUL (Pajhwok):</span><span class="s1"> The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has announced that over 1,200 tons of substandard, low-quality, and expired medicines and food have been collected and destroyed this year.</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Dr. Sharafat Zaman, spokesperson for the Ministry, told Pajhwok: “The Ministry is committed to ensuring that people have access to quality medicines. Similarly, only safe and high-quality food should be available in markets.”</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">According to Dr. Zaman, a total of 1,290 tons of substandard and illegal medicines, food items, and health products were seized from across the country and destroyed this year. </span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">“These included expired items or products whose quality had deteriorated. Inspection teams collected and disposed of them accordingly,” he added.</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">He further stated that the Ministry’s leadership has ordered inspection teams in the capital and provinces to continue monitoring the market, prevent the entry of unsafe food and medicines, and destroy any low-quality products.</span></p>
