Turkey interested in purchasing Herat’s saffron

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Officials say Turkey is willing to buy saffron produced in western Herat province, welcoming the expansion of economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

Governor Maulana Noor Ahmad Islamyar met Turkey’s Deputy Ambassador Changis Idimir and stressed the need to boost cooperation between the two countries.

During his trip to Herat City, the Turkish diplomat also called for friendly bilateral relations and efforts to strengthen economic and cultural ties between the two countries.

The deputy ambassador expressed his country’s willingness to buy saffron from Herat province and cooperate in this regard with Afghan authorities and growers.

In a statement, the governor called for the establishment of an air corridor between Herat and Turkey. He asked Ankara’s cooperation in this regard.

The governor also asked the Turkish diplomat for the necessary facilities for saffron exports to Turkey and through it to European countries.
