KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has confirmed its three officials have stayed in the United Kingdom while some sources claimed one player and three ACB members have sought asylum there.

According to VoA, one U-19 player and three ACB officials have sought asylum in the US.

Two sources in the ACB confirmed the development. The U-19 team participated in World Cup in West Indies where they finished 4th.

On their way back home the team had 48 hours of transit stay in the UK where they decided not to return back to Afghanistan and applied for asylum.

ACB told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Yes, three officials of ACB have sought asylum in the UK.”

A welcoming party was scheduled for U-19 players upon their return to Kabul but it was postponed.
