KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan has paid Tajikistan $6 million in electricity dues, the Tojik power utility chief says.
Kabul paid Dushanbe $2 million in January and another $4 million in February, Mohammad Umar Asozoda told journalists.
A news website quoted him saying that arrears worth $27 million were still payable by the energy-deficient neighbour.
Tajikistan currently exports 40 megawatt-hours of electricity to Afghanistan on a daily basis.
But the volume will rise to 400 megawatt-hours in spring-summer, according to eurasia.net.
