KABUL (Pajhwok): The Babakarkhel Tribal Council on Thursday called on the United Nations, Islamic countries and international human rights organizations to help Afghans in freeing their frozen assets.
The council called on the United States to release Afghanistan's frozen currency during a protest meeting in Kabul.
The council said in a statement to the United States that Afghanistan kept its reserves amounting to $9.5 billion in international banks to support its currency.
