Tolo News director, 2 employees detained in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): Intelligence personnel have arrested director of Tolo News and two other employees, according to credible sources on Friday.

Former Tolo News Director Lotfullah Najafizada and some other current and former employees of Tolo News spread the news of their employees detention in the social media.

They claimed intelligence personnel have detained Tolo News Director Khapalwak Sapi, anchorperson Bahram Aman and another employee of the private television on Thursday evening.

Two of the detained persons were freed after few hours of inspection, the source said.

UNAMA on its twitter handle wrote: “Deepening concern tonight in Afghanistan over credible reports of further arbitrary detentions by the Taliban of @Tolonews reporters. The UN urges the release of all those taken away by gunmen and an end to the intimidation and threats against journalists and independent media.”
