KABUL (Pajhwok): United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said the Afghan caretaker government's decision to stop girls from education is a violation of their rights.
As schools reopened on Wednesday, girls above the sixth grade were asked to stay home. Girls’ high schools would remain closed until a plan was drawn up in accordance with the Islamic law and Afghan culture based on the government’s decision.
The Ministry of Education said consultations were ongoing on the regard and a decision would be made in the near future.
