KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 11,000 people lost their lives to tuberculosis (TB) and more than 50,000 others contracted the disease last year in Afghanistan, an official said on Tuesday.
Dr. Khan Mohammad Mangal, director of the National TB Prevention Programme, provide information about the disease at a meeting marking the World TB Day in Kabul.
He said about 11,000 people lost their lives while 50,710 others were infected with the disease in Afghanistan last year.
