10 clean water supply networks being built in Paktia

GARDEZ (Pajhwok): Construction of 10 clean water supply networks in eight districts of southeastern Paktia province launched on Thursday, officials said.

The projects would be implemented with the financial support of UNICEF under the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department of Paktia province on a cost of 42 million afghanis.

Habibullah Khushal, program director of Paktia Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 1,700 families, 10 schools, 10 mosques and five healthcare centers would benefit from the projects once implemented.

He said the projects would cost 42 million afghanis and would be completed by the end of ongoing solar year.

With the launch of these projects, local people will be provided with good work opportunity in addition of people’s protection from diseases caused by unclean water, he said.

Mulavi Abba, deputy Ahmadabad district chief of Paktia province, said, "We are in dire need of these projects that are currently underway in Ahmadabad and other districts and we will cooperate with the relevant organs in their implementation."

He said that people of the area also needed projects in other fields and asked donor organizations to assist their people.

These projects would be implemented in Ahmadabad, Sayed Karam, Mirzaka, Zazai Aryub, Zurmat, Wazi Zadran and Laja Mangal districts of Paktia.
