7 Pakistani soldiers killed in North Waziristan ambush

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Seven Pakistani soldiers and four terrorists have been killed in a firefight near the Afghanistan border.

The army’s media wing said on Friday the ambush on a military convoy occurred in the North Waziristan tribal district.

A brief statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the incident took place in the Isham of the restive district.

“The troops initiated a prompt response and effectively engaged and killed four terrorists, while a clearance operation in the area is underway,” the statement added.

The Pakistan Army reaffirmed its determination to eliminate the menace of terrorism. ‘Such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.’

The slain troops were identified as Tariq Yousaf, Suleman Waqas, Junaid Ali, Ijaz Hussain, Waqar Ahmed, Muhammad Jawad Ameer and Arshad Ali

A Pakistan Army soldier was martyred in an exchange of fire with terrorists in the same area a day earlier, the ISPR had said. He was identified as Asmatullah Khan.
