KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Police in southeastern Khost province on Wednesday claimed confiscating dozens of kilograms of narcotics and arresting eight suspects in connection with the seizure.
Provincial counternarcotics chief Mualvi Mir Sadiq Khan told Pajhwok Afghan News that they had recently started an operation against drug traffickers, kidnappers and armed robbers and they had great achievements.
He said they seized 123 kilograms of hashish, 400 grams of crystal methamphetamine and some other drugs in the past three weeks.
The narcotics were seized by security forces during a special operation in the capital and districts of the province and eight people were arrested in connection with the seizure, he added.
He said that the Counternarcotic Department was committed to arresting smugglers and bringing them to justice.
On the other hand, Khost police spokesman Mustaghfar Garbiz told Pajhwok that security forces had stepped up their efforts to ensure security in the province and were not giving any chance to kidnappers, armed robbers and drug traffickers to commit their crimes.
He added that security forces had rescued a child from kidnappers and handed him over to his family.
"No one will be allowed to threaten the security of the people of Khost and the people should cooperate with security forces for peace and stability,” he concluded.
