BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): The number of tourists in Central Bamyan province has increased recently with the majority of them expressing happiness over the improved security situation.

Band-i-Ameer Park, Dohak City, Azdar Valley, Gholghola City, Foladi Valley, Chehal Dukhtaran, Ghar Yakhi, Buddha statues, Chahel Burj and Balahesar were some of the historic sites and places worth visiting in historic Bamyan province.

Band-i-Ameer Park is one of the places that attracted more tourists recently, it is stretched over 41 hectares of land and has five natural water reservoirs.

In the initial months of 2009, Band-i-Ameer was named as the first National Park where hundreds of people pay visits.

After the regime change last year, the number of tourists in Bamyan province declined but lately, there was a surge in the number of tourists.

Agriculture Department Director Mullah Gulabuddin told Pajhwok Afghan News after Eid-ul-Fitr the number of tourists in Bamyan province had surged.

Gulabuddin who is also in-charge of the Band-i-Ameer entrance gate said they distributed up to 2,200 tickets for vehicles in the past nine days.

Hussain Ali, a hotel owner in Band-i-Ameer said: “After Eid-ul-Fitr the number of tourists had increased and our business improved too.”

He said hundreds of tourists have visited Band-i-Ameer and other sites recently.

Alam Gul, a resident of Helmand province, said: “It was the first time I have visited Band-i-Ameer with my family.”

He was thrilled over the improved security, law and order situation and said: “All praises to Allah that peace and stability prevailed in the country. We did not face any security issue.”

Rustam Alizada, from Herat province, said: “For the first time, I have arrived for tourism along with my friends to historic Bamyan province.”

He said in the past we could not visit Bamyan because of security issues and the country was not stable but now things had improved and there was no problem on the high way.

This comes that Governor Abdullah Sarhadi assured visitors of improved security and said: “Bamyan province is fully stable and all tourists local and foreigners could arrive in the province and visit historic sites by showing complete compliance with Islamic principles.”

Bamyan Police Spokesperson Mohammad Khawani Rasa in telephonic contact told Pajhwok Afghan News tourists could arrive in Bamyan province without security concerns. There are no security problems in Bamyan province at this time.
