Take nation in confidence on key national issues: Hekmatyar to govt

KABUL (Pajhwok): Hezb-i-Islami Afghanistan leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar has stressed the role of the masses in key national policy-making and asked the acting government not to consider themselves victorious and view the masses as detainees.

In his Friday sermon, the former prime minister said the stability of every political system was linked to the support of the people, adding that a nation should be satisfied with its decisions and performance.

He asked the acting government to provide a comprehensive, logical and practical policy to steer the country out of current political crisis.

He stressed the current government should take the nation in confidence regarding key national issues.

“Let’s come, think deeply, carefully, open your hearts and take the nation into confidence to find a stable and durable solution to the current crisis. This nation rendered massive sacrifices for Islam and independence. Don’t allow arrogance and claiming the victory, needless arrogance destroys systems,” he said.

Referring to government’s strict rules and policies, he said: “Please resolve the issue --- Hijab --- don’t impose something on Afghan nation that are not imposed by Allah Almighty and his prophet (PBUH).”
