MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Nearly 1,700 children are involved in hard labor, including 141 begging on the streets, in northern Balkh province, an official said on Monday.
Social Affairs Department Director Mufti Naseer Ahmad Abu Khalid told Pajhwok Afghan News that he has talked to a number of foundations and welfare organizations to support and help the families of these children.
Khalid, 11, one of these children said he reached the brick kiln every morning at 5:00 am and works late into the evening.
