KABUL (Pajhwok): Top diplomats from Pakistan and Iran have conferred on fresh developments in Afghanistan, calling for stability in the neighbouring country.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said: “We discussed the dire humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.”

Flanked by his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian at a news conference in Tehran, Bilawal Zardari said both Pakistan and Iran were directly affected by instability in Afghanistan.

The two sides agreed that the Afghan people should be supported, including through access to their frozen assets, the visiting foreign minister added.

He said the global fraternity hoped the Taliban administration would move towards inclusivity and an effective counter-terrorism action.

The rising tide of Islamophobia and recent derogatory remarks by Indian officials that offended Muslims across the world also came up for discussion.

“We agreed it is time for the international community to show common resolve against Islamophobia, Xenophobia, intolerance and incitement to violence on the basis of religion,” he said.
