KABUL (Pajhwok): Turkish nongovernmental organization (NGO) the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) has provided food packages to 1000 families in need in Kabul.
Mujahid Klich, an official of the foundation in Afghanistan, said the Turkish charity had so far distributed 1500 tons of food packages to deserving families in various provinces.
Navid Ahmad Barakzai, media official of the foundation, said in total 1000 destitute families were provided assistance in Kabul today. He said each family received 25kg of flour, 5kg of ghee, 7kg of rice and beans.
He said they had not conducted any survey to identify deserving families, but the families were introduced to them by various government departments.
He said besides provision of food aid, the charity had assisted farmers in area of agriculture in many provinces.
Qais, a resident of Kabul who received the aid today, said people’s economic situation was dire and they needed more help.
He said the aid he received was insufficient and the government and international charity organizations should increase their assistance with the Afghans. He said unemployment was high and all Afghans needed assistance and they should be assisted.
