KABUL (Pajhwok): Before their departure for Uzbekistan to attend an international conference, members of the government delegation held a preparatory meeting.
Chaired by Foreign Minister Ameer Khan Muttaqi¸ the meeting was held at Stori Palace in Kabul.
The meeting was aimed to prepare the delegates for the Tashkent conference, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote on its website, without giving further details.
The two-day international conference on Afghanistan will begin in Tashkent tomorrow (Monday). Representatives from 20 countries will take part in it.
Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov expects a delegation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) will take part in the conference focused on Afghanistan.
Norov added: “The participation of the IEA delegation doesn’t mean that we recognise the new government of Afghanistan, but want to send them our massage.”
He explained the aim of the event was that IEA should fulfill its promises in the framework of Tashkent conference and accept international its obligations.
