KABUL (Pajhwok): Human rights defender and education activist Jamila Afghani has won the seventh Aurora prize for Awakening Humanity 2022.

Aurora Humanitarian Initiative in a statement in Venice city of Italy announced that the 7th Aurora Prize was awarded to Jamila Afghani.

Aurora Humanitarian Initiative said Jamila Afghani, the founder of Noor Foundation, has enrolled over 100,000 women since August 2021 in Noor Foundation for literacy programs.

Jamila Afghani on her Facebook page wrote: “Thank God, it is the success of all the women and girls who tolerate all difficulties under any regime and suffer from family and cultural violence”.

Afghani adds: “This prize is dedicated to the millions of girls deprived of education right and women deprived of their right to work, education and other social and political participation in the society. The prize shows that the women of Afghanistan will shine like the sun and no system can silence their voice or deprive them of righteous rights”.

Aurora prize since 2016 is annually awarded to people who make significant gains in the field of humanity services. The winners are awarded one million dollars.
